This hands-on training and placement course prepares participants to work with pervious concrete. Participants receive training in project planning, site preparation, and product placement to minimize the chance of failure. Topics covered include finishing, edging, jointing, curing, and protecting.

The training focuses on building thermal and pressure boundaries, as well as ways to enhance a building envelope through insulation and air-sealing techniques. It teaches participants not only how to analyze a home, including moisture, ice dams, mildew, and drafts, but also why it is so important.

The training offers participants an opportunity to learn the fundamental principles of energy and building science through technical instruction on optimization of air flow and quality, moisture regulation, lighting appliance energy savings and expertise in combustion testing and safety. Participants also get to apply fundamental principles learned In the classroom to a live energy actual of a residential home.

Summary of Training:

The training is designed to prepare members of home performance contracting crews to conduct home performance and weatherization jobs using the “whole house approach” through lectures and hands-on labs and assessments. Students learned installation and repair of new and existing ventilation systems, as well as HVAC sealing, insulation and filtration; and how to tighten a home to BPI standards.
