The Partnership

As envisioned by the U.S. Department of Labor and WorkForce West Virginia, the WorkForceWV GREEN-UP Council is responsible for coordinating regional sector-based economic and workforce development activities for the green energy sector. Championed by the National Governors’ Association and other organizations, industry sector partnerships are intended to bring together business, labor, non-profit organizations, education and training providers, and others to address the long-term needs of a particular economic sector.  Read more about sector-based economic development by following the two links that appear below:

The Work

The WorkForce West Virginia GREEN-UP Council has accomplished much during its short existence. Below are some important GREEN-UP Council documents, including a Charter that outlines the goals, objectives, and activities of the Council and a Green Jobs Education and Training Plan developed specifically to assist WorkForce West Virginia in its application for $6 million in funds from the U.S. Department of Labor to support green jobs education and training activities.  The GREEN-UP Council looks forward to building upon its initial success.
